Depicts a globe (left) and Earth cross-section (right) to represent the broad spectrum of geosciences: surface to deep interior. Combined with the open access padlock arm to represent a move towards a more open, transparent publishing system.

A second logo idea from Mark Hooper.
Just a simple integration of the globe and some folders to visualize the two words.
The idea is simple. File cabinet with a drawer out and the Earth in the drawer. EarthArXiv would be along the drawer, or down the side of the cabinet.

The fundamental principal underlying EarthArXiv is that knowledge should be shared and accessible by anyone and everyone. This design takes the idea of data sharing across the globe and stylises it somewhat.
