A second logo idea from Mark Hooper.
Just a simple integration of the globe and some folders to visualize the two words.
The idea is simple. File cabinet with a drawer out and the Earth in the drawer. EarthArXiv would be along the drawer, or down the side of the cabinet.

The fundamental principal underlying EarthArXiv is that knowledge should be shared and accessible by anyone and everyone. This design takes the idea of data sharing across the globe and stylises it somewhat.
Besides the earth as a circle (e.g. with latitude longitude lines), a globe (as in desk globe) is one of the most iconic representations of the Earth. It's the closes we can get to a "hands-on" artefact of our planet, and it's an item of curiosity and learning. The coloured "band" forming the second bar for the "X" could be a straight line.
